Two pages serve with Kohl-Welles in state Senate

Kelly Taft and Nolan Wolf served as pages in the Washington State Senate, sponsored by Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles (D-36th District).

Taft, a junior at Holy Names Academy in Capitol Hill, found the experience rewarding, saying, “I was looking for something really cool to do a while ago. Then I thought, ‘Oh, it would be really cool to be a Senate page!”

Taft is no stranger to politics, as she participates in the Future Statesman of America program at her school, where part of the program is helping fight political apathy among teenagers.

Wolf, a junior at Nathan Hale High School, is currently running for class president and believes his experience in Olympia will help with that endeavor.

“I actually want to be a politician when I grow up,” he said, “so this was a great chance to see where I may be in a couple of years.”

His ultimate goal in life is to help people and serve his community, and government is one of the best ways to do that, Wolf added.
