Sustainable Magnolia is organizing a Climate Action Day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 24, with a goal of planting 350 trees in Discovery Park.
Led by organizer Leslie Collins, the group will model its efforts after a global one, www.350.org, in which similar plantings take place all over the world.
Co-sponsoring the event are Discovery Park and Heron Habitat Helpers. The day will feature celebrations all overthe city.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Discovery Park Visitor Center beginning with sign-ups, speakers and cider and donuts and then volunteers will be shuttled to the Old Theater site to plant the trees.
The News will print updates and added coverage as the date nears.[[In-content Ad]]
