The Queen Anne Community Council Transportation Committee will meet next Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. Among the topics to be considered will be:
• How bus rapid transit (Metro Rapid Ride), beginning in late '09 from Ballard through Uptown into Downtown, will serve Queen Anne and Seattle Center;
• Seattle Department of Transportation's response to the fatality accident at West Blaine Street and Sixth Avenue West - speed cushions are the SDOT-recommended mitigation for speeding cars on Sixth;
• Increasing congestion on the Elliott-15th Avenue corridor: will AMGEN cutbacks and continuing conflict between Port of Seattle and Seattle City Council provide a pause in new traffic growth?
• Joint neighborhood planning between South Lake Union and Queen Anne: the Visioning Charette Recommendations summarize the consensus of 40 community and business leaders from both neighborhoods on topics including transit, streets, housing mix, building design, education, public services and public amenities;
• Vote on the nomination of Jessica Vets as new co-chair of the committee. Bring your new transportation issues for inclusion in future agendas.
The meeting will be held at Queen Anne Community Center, 1901 First Ave. W.
