The cars that ate Queen Anne

Start your engines - or just polish your green-with-envy glasses - because the new Queen Anne Car Show is gearing up to set the neighborhood between Dexter and Lake Union a-hum on Aug. 6.

More than 100 local and regional collector and classic cars will be rolling in for Seattle's only downtown car show. Fifteen "showcase" vehicles are set to be featured inside the core display area, with other vintage vehicles, muscle cars, hot rods, customs and exotics basking in (we can only hope) the sun along Valley Street and Eighth Avenue North. Those streets will be blocked off to facilitate un-disturbed ogling of the automotive beauties.

Collectors from Queen Anne and Magnolia will be amply represented in the show. There is no limit or special restrictions on the collector cars to be exhibited.

"We wanted to give everyone who is a car enthusiast a chance to show their favorite car, truck or even motorcycles," stated Dee Baskerville, who will co-host the show with Wietje Baskerville. "We'll have some high-end classics, Ferraris, Cadillacs and street vehicles. Everyone is invited - and it's just for fun."

The Baskervilles own and operate Exeter Detailing and Auto Hound Collision Center, which are the presenting sponsors of the event. Such other automotive services and local businesses as Courtyard by Marriott/Lake Union and Outback Restaurant are joining in the sponsorship.

The Greater Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce, another sponsor, will co-host a special "business to business" open house on the Friday afternoon prior to the Saturday car show. Vendors and community displays are invited to participate during the Saturday event.
