The art of Andrew Morrison: Memorable faces, places at Daybreak Star

Native American artist Andrew Morrison has some two dozen new works on display at the Sacred Circle Art Gallery inside Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Discovery Park.

The 32-year-old Mountlake Terrace resident’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, including the American Indian Center’s Trickster Gallery in Chicago, Il. (check), Seattle Public Schools and Portland State University’s Native American Student Center in Portland, Or (check).

Morrison’s new work, rendered in acrylics and charcoal, ranges from striking, granitic faces — including Jesus — to the less defined borders of myth-influenced themes.

“My art foundation is built on iron clad discipline and daily I pile up effort upon effort knowing my commitment is paying off,” Morrison said in a written statement.

The show opened July 12. No end date is given.
