For the first half, it was anybody's game.
Montana State Billings had come into town with a win Thursday to take on the Seattle Pacific University Falcons women's soccer team and may have had the momentum that would take them to the sweet-16 in Texas.
But it was not to be.
The Falcons methodically wore down Billings, controlling the ball and perpetually pushing it up into Yellowjackets territory. The Falcons had 12 shots on goal to Billings's 5.
And then midway through the first half, junior midfielder Kelsey blasted a ball over a throng of Yellowjackets and into the right corner of the goal.
In the second half, Billings appeared to pick up steam, fighting for the ball and keeping the Falcons at bay. In a scrap, a Yellowjackets defender knocked down Jenkins, awarding the Falcons a free kick. Forward Brandie Hamre drilled a shot in the right corner to put the Falcons up for good, 2-0.
The Falcons play San Diego Thursday in Austin, Texas.[[In-content Ad]]
