An intimate, 35-seat seafood bistro, Tanglewood Supreme opened Oct. 25 in Magnolia Village at the site of the former Wheeler Street Kitchen at 3216 W. Wheeler St.
The inner space has been transformed with high-backed booths, a reclaimed farm table and a blond, butcher-block eating bar that wraps around the kitchen.
Owner Kent Chappelle, a longtime Magnolia resident, has brought on board executive chef Jeffrey Kessenich, formerly of Brasa, and sous chef Tyler Johnston.
The menu will be updated regularly, showcasing seasonal, locally sourced offerings, as well as inspirations from the Pacific Rim and the Mediterranean.
Among the items appearing on the menu: diver-caught scallops, Alaska spot prawns, local oysters and Columbia River walleye; non-seafood choices also are featured.
The name Tanglewood Supreme comes from a dish Chappelle’s mother prepared in the 1970s.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, with a happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m.
