Suspect still at large in Fremont vehicular assault

A woman in her 20s was intentionally hit in the 3900 block of Woodland Park Avenue North in Fremont around 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, police say. The woman was thrown about 40 feet by the collision, according to witnesses who included a KIRO-TV cameraman on his way to work and a man who was standing with the woman on the street.

The Toyota sedan allegedly used in the vehicular assault was later found abandoned in the 4000 block of Whitman Avenue North, but police know who the driver was, said Seattle Police Department spokesperson Sean Whitcomb. "As far as we know, he's still at large," he said last Monday morning.

The woman's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and she was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, he said.

Police believe they know the motive behind the alleged assault, but they aren't revealing what it was or what the suspect would be charged with if and when he's caught, Whitcomb said: "It's an active investigation at this point."
