Seattle Parks hosts free egg and candy hunt

You can find egg hunts and other fun spring stuff at South End community centers and parks. All the listed events are free and geared toward younger children and their families. Make sure to bring your baskets or sacks to carry your goodies in, and be sure to prepared for cold and rain if the event is taking place outside.

GARFIELD COMMUNITY CENTER, 2323 E. Cherry St., 684-4788.

SPRING EGG HUNT, Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m. to noon. This scramble for candy happens rain or shine! Be sure to bring your own bag or basket to hold your goodies. Find the special prize egg (four in each hunt area) to receive something extra. Kids hunt in age-appropriate groups. 10 to 10:30 a.m. for ages 3 and younger; 10:30 to 11 a.m. for ages 4-6; and 11 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 7-9 and 10-12. Meet at the community center gym 15 minutes before your scheduled hunt time to organize for the hunt. Compliments of Garfield Advisory Council and Lakewood School. Ages: 12 and younger. Cost: Free. NOTE: Garfield needs volunteers for the event, so if you're interested, please call Sonya at the center.

SPRING CANDY HUNT, Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m. to noon. The Candy Hunt will happen rain or shine! Children ages 12 and younger will be placed in separate age-appropriate groups. Meet at the community center gym no later than 15 minutes before your hunt. The hunt is compliments of the International District/Chinatown Community Center Advisory Council. 10 to 10:30 a.m. for kids 3 and younger; 10:30 to 11 a.m. for kids 4-6; and 11 to 11:30 a.m. for kids 7-9 and 10-12. Cost: free.
