The Lake Union Crew (LUC) is participating in Row for the Cure on Lake Union Sept. 19 in hopes of raising money that would be put toward research for a cure for breast cancer.
Audra Jackley, whom some may know from her days as an administrator with the Magnolia Little League, is now a LUC member and will be compting in the Women's Eight.
Each rower is asked to raise $150 for the cause. Jackley's team has a goal of $10,000.
Since 2000, this regatta has raised more than $413,000 for the Puget Sound affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Row for the Cure offers rowers the chance to make a difference in the lives of women with breast cancer.
Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum donation of $150, which is the cost of a screening mammogram.
The race begins at 7 a.m. for dragon boats and 7:30 a.m. for rowers. The start line is at the SPU dock and runs down the west side of Lake Union, around red can, over to east side of the lake, and up to the north end of the lake. It finishes in Ward's Cove (2821 Fairview Ave E.).[[In-content Ad]]
