Quit-smoking study volunteers needed


Adult smokers who want to kick the habit have a chance to enroll in Smart Quit, a free, iPhone-based smoking-cessation study conducted by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in collaboration with the University of Washington and 2Morrow Mobile.

Those interested have until May 11 to see if they are eligible.

The study will compare the effectiveness of two iPhone -based smoking-cessation programs with a goal of creating more effective programs.

Participants will learn new tools for dealing more effectively with urges to smoke. They also will receive step-by-step quit guides and create personalized plans for staying smoke-free.

Eligible participants must be age 18 or older, smoke at least five cigarettes a day, want to quit within 30 days and be interested in learning new skills to quit smoking.
