Queen Anne resident Tory Peil appears as Tory Tiara in a wine-soaked, time-travel burlesque at the Triple Door.
The publicity materials describe the Triple Door’s August 8-10 spectacle, “Burlesco DiVino: Wine in Rome,” as “ecdysiastic pageantry.”
We checked online: “Ecdysiastic,” is a facetious name for a stripper, coined by H.L. Mencken, no less.
Presented, conceived and written by Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann, the cast features burlesque luminaries Verlaine, McCann, Inga Ingénue, The Luminous Pariah, Paris Original and Trojan Original with “rising starlets” Laurel Bordeaux and Tory Tiara, among others. The show is billed as, “a celebration of wine, beauty, and frivolity across time in The Eternal City.”
