Following a longer-than-expected preventive maintenance closure, Seattle Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that Queen Anne Pool will reopen for full service on Monday, Nov. 5, beginning with early morning lap swim at 6 a.m.
To thank the community of pool users for their patience and goodwill, Parks will offer discount swimming all day Friday, Nov. 9. Pay just $2 for any swim during the day, and enjoy a family-appropriate Dive-In Movie at 7 p.m.
The pool closed in mid-June, with Parks originally anticipating it to reopen at the end of September. A delay in the delivery of key heating and ventilation system components made it necessary to stay closed longer.
The improvements will enable Parks to serve the public at this pool better than ever before. Mechanical improvements include new boiler equipment and piping, upgrades to the electrical system and mechanical controls, and new air-handling equipment located on the roof. Conservation upgrades include an insulated pool cover and reels, an ultraviolet disinfecting system, high-efficiency LED underwater lights and plumbing upgrades to toilets, showers and sinks. Parks also made cosmetic improvements to the locker rooms.
Parks closes each of its indoor pools once every 18 months for preventive maintenance.
