Queen Anne Lightning go 10-0 in flag-football league

Last year the Lightning missed the playoffs by a hair. But this year it was all about redemption and defense as the Queen Anne Lightning of the Seattle Flag Football League blew away all opposition going 10-0.

"They came out blazing from day one," said coach Dirk Hallingstad. "We led the league in shut outs."

Hallingstad said when the team understood the importance of defense, something clicked and they prevented teams from scoring. Four of the games were shut outs. But the offense was nothing short of spectacular.

Quarterback Carl Loacker threw for at least 40 touchdowns and had only three interceptions. Running back Andrew Angelos ran for six touchdowns in one game. And defender Henry Weller was an iron curtain.

"For our defense, he's awesome. He goes all out," Hallingstad said of Weller.

Hallingstad was impressed with the statistics, but mostly he admired how his team played.

"They played as a team and I couldn't be more proud," Hallingstad said. "They played the right way, sportsmanship and all."
