Queen Anne Holiday Magic returns

It will be quite the event filled with carolers, art, winter gifts and lights.

The annual Holiday Magic event begins at 3 p.m., Friday Dec. 3 with participating merchants atop the hill at Queen Anne Avenue North.

Something new this year will be the use of LED lights on the trees along Queen Anne Avenue North, according to Mary Chapman, Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce executive director.

"Yes, we are going green, using less electricity and we have an agreement with Artist Touch Landscaping to do our lights for the next five years," she said. "Previously cheap electric bulb strings were bought, cut down and thrown away each year."

Local mechants pay out of pocket to light the avenue. The chamber would welcome donations. People can email the chamber at contact@qachamber.org to donate.

The event is sponsored and presented by the chamber and will feature holiday shopping discounts, food and wine, the John Hay Chorus, a visit from Santa Claus, hot chocolate, chair massages, a Seattle Fire Department truck, children's art projects and a host of other activities.

This year mark's the 16th year of Holiday Magic.
