Queen Anne Helpline raises funds, fun at annual auction

With Pearl Django and guest vocalist Greta Metassa providing the soundtrack, the Queen Anne Helpline celebrated its 30th year with its annual fund-raiser gala at Fisher Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Queen Anne resident Arne Zaslove served as master of ceremonies. Pat Sobeck, retired Helpline executive director, and Lisa Moore, who assumed the post in September, spoke to the crowd.

Zaslove was later joined on stage by past Helpline board president Craig Wilson for the auction portion of the evening, which included a stay at a villa in France and a yacht cruise with a gourmet dinner.

The Helpline reports the organization exceeded its fund-raising goal: A preliminary tally put the total in the neighborhood of $100,000.

The event was sponsored by Vulcan, Charles and Nancy Hogan, Metropolitan Market, HomeStreet Bank and Amgen. Chateau St. Michelle and Pike Place Brewery donated the wine and beer; more than a dozen local restaurants donated the food.
