Queen Anne celebrates 10th Annual Uptown Stroll

Award-winning artists will have works displayed at Bank of America

Under sunny skies in Lower Queen Anne, dozens of artists celebrated the 10th Annual Uptown Stroll: A Festival of Art in Action on Saturday, Aug. 28.
In the midst of a balloon-festooned Counterbalance Park, crowds enjoyed a variety of amazing art that was on display and also saw art being created before their very eyes.
Jean Sundborg, the event's emcee, also provided music and spoken-word entertainment for those who crowded the park.
Artists from across the Puget Sound region gathered to sculpt masks from clay, knit yarn into hats and vests, craft jewelry and generate digital art.
Other artists turned books into purses, created dolls from twigs and cloth, transformed scrap metal and produced paintings galore in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, ink and charcoal.
This year's special Good Neighbor Awards were given by the Uptown Alliance to D. John Coney, Alan Panitch, Queen Anne Crafty Ladies and Uptown Metropolitan Market. The Beautification Award was given to Carolyn (CC) Conklin.
Jurors Sarah Arney, Gene Gentry McMahon and Susan Russell awarded ribbons and prizes from generous local merchants to the following winners:
