Public park in the New Holly Development to celebrate the completion of its renovation with a party on June 23

Seattle Parks and Recreation - along with the Seattle Housing Authority - are celebrating the newly renovated John C. Little Sr. Park with a dedication celebration on Saturday, June 23, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. which is free and open to the public.

The celebration will include live music from Guinea's Naby Camara and his group Lagni Sussu, a balloon clown and face painter for children and light refreshments. The project improves a portion of the 5.8-acre park that is a part of the Seattle Housing Authority's New Holly Development.

Originally named 37th Ave. S. Park, the renovated park will feature a new water spray for children, two picnic shelters with barbeues and a comprehensive system of connecting paths. The final renovation was apart of Pro Parks project implementation, the second phase of a two-part renovation.

The park was renamed after John C. Little Sr., a longtime Park board member and Board of Park Commissioner member who help found the Central Area Youth Association as well as create a 4-H program for Seattle.

The renovation was funded by the $198.2 million Pro Parks Levy which was approved by voters in 2000 to help fun more than 100 projects throughout the city over an eight year span. The levy has also been used to improve athletic fields, playground trails, community centers, parks, increase green spaces, support zoo programs and enhance park maintenance.

The park is located at 6961 37th Ave. S. For more information contact Parks Project Manager, Lynn Sullivan at 733-9105.
