Privatized liquor countdown at Met Market

On Thursday, May 31, about 100 people, including vendors and the media, showed up before midnight at Metropolitan Market on upper Queen Anne.

The occasion: The countdown to Friday, June 1 and the official privatization of liquor sales as a result of last fall’s Initiative 1183.

Metropolitan Market COO Todd Korman led the countdown with a bullhorn as the crowd counted down with him. The first purchaser was Toulouse Petit’s Joe Jeannot (being interviewed), who came away with a bottle of Freemont Mischief.
