Disastrous Drunk

After receiving calls about a man pushing and punching random strangers on the street in the Queen Anne neighborhood, Seattle Police responded to the area of Terry Avenue and Stewart Street at 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29. After searching the area, police officers located the suspect in the area of Boren Avenue and Virginia Street. He was with his girlfriend.

The suspect’s girlfriend said she met up with him in the University District earlier that evening, and they had boarded a bus towards downtown. The suspect was drunk and disorderly on the bus, and was asked to get off by the bus driver in the area of Terry Avenue and Stewart. She admitted that she’d seen her boyfriend hit two people, but she begged the officers to let him go because he was planning to enlist in the Army, and didn’t want to jeopardize that. She told the officers that it wasn’t uncommon for her boyfriend to get violent while drunk.

Officers spoke with the first victim, who said he’d been walking in the area of in the 1800 block of Terry Avenue when he was approached by the suspect, who pushed him with no provocation. He continued walking and he was pushed again by the suspect, so hard this time that he fell down. While he was down the suspect head butted him. This victim sustained several scratches to his face.

The second victim said he was walking in the 1900 block of Terry Avenue when the suspect ran up to him and punched him in the face. The suspect then yelled at him not to call the police. Police note that this victim was bleeding severely from his nose, and likely suffered a broken nose. Both victims were able to positively identify the suspect as the attacker in both incidents.

Police arrested the suspect, who was obviously drunk and slurring his speech. He showed his readiness for the military by responding to all of the officers’ requests with a loud “Yes sir,” and he stood at attention.

Knock You Out

After a 6-foot, 190-pound convicted felon punched a petite woman in the face twice, rendering her unconscious, in front of a nightclub located on Fifth Avenue North, club security called 911. Seattle Police officers responded at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, and found the woman on the sidewalk unconscious. Seattle Fire was called right away, and she was transported to the hospital due to a laceration in the back of her head.

Officers were not able to get a clear reason for why the man punched the woman. They note that the suspect’s most recent conviction was for felony theft and possession of a firearm. He was not arrested this night; it is unclear if police were able to locate him.

“Coulda Done Better"

A drunken brawl ensued at a restaurant on Fairview Avenue North when an inebriated patron, who apparently takes his cues from George Costanza, approached a couple and told the woman she deserved better than her companion. Several witnesses told police that the couple had been standing in the lobby waiting for a table at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. The drunk customer walked out from the bar holding a glass of alcohol in each hand. He approached the couple and said to the woman, “You deserve better than him.”

The situation escalated, and the drunk man smashed the two glasses into either side of the victim’s head, causing cuts to his face and ears. The victim grabbed the drunk man, forcing him to the ground and holding him there for a minute. When he let the suspect go, he attempted to punch the victim. The victim got the suspect down again, all while the drunkard was yelling, “That whore is not worth it!”

Police officers arrived and immediately arrested the suspect, who was later booked into King County Jail for assault. The restaurant has a surveillance camera that captured the whole incident on video. Police are very interested in watching that video.

Hole In One

Police responded to 911 calls that several men with golf clubs were chasing another man around the parking lot of a dance club on Westlake Avenue North at 2:39 a.m.  on Sunday, Nov. 20. Upon arrival the responding officer located the victim and one of the suspects. The other two suspects ran away when they heard the sirens.

The victim said he’d been dancing with a girl, when her boyfriend got upset. They had gotten into a confrontation inside the club, and then the girl, her boyfriend and his cousins had left. When the victim left the club for the night, he was confronted outside by the boyfriend and his cousins, who were all wielding golf clubs. He demonstrated to the officer how the men had been swinging the golf clubs at him: like a baseball bat. He said he’d missed being hit several times.

The girl spoke with police, saying the victim was lying and that he’d been dancing inappropriately and touching girls in the club all night. She said he’d grabbed her butt, and this is why her boyfriend and his cousins were so upset. She said she’d told club security this, but when officers went to verify her story security had left for the night.

Police located a golf club in the bushes in the parking lot. Because of this, the lone suspect was arrested for investigation of assault. He first told police he had acted alone, and then admitted he’d been with his cousins. He refused to tell them what had happened.

Grilled Mouth

A man called 911 on Wednesday, Nov. 23, to report he’d been robbed three days earlier in a club in Queen Anne. He said he’d delayed reporting the incident due to the injuries he sustained to his mouth, because he had trouble speaking.

He said he’d been standing by the coat check in the club at about 1 a.m. when he was approached by a man that he’d never met before. This man punched him in the face. When he went down he was quickly surrounded by several other men, all swinging at him. He was punched a couple times. At some point his tooth punctured his upper lip. He sustained cuts to the inside of his mouth, most of which caused by a grill he was wearing on his teeth at the time of the incident.

The victim told police he didn’t know any of these men, aside from one whom he recognized as a former classmate. The attackers stole $300 in cash from his shirt pocket, and attempted but failed to get a ring off of his finger.

He also reported to police that he was later escorted out of the club by security. He said the security guard used a taser on him to force him out of a particular door, into the parking lot the group of men who had assaulted him were standing in. He said the men had guns. He said he feared for his life and eventually was able to exit through a different door and get away. He said one of the men had yelled that his brother was a security guard at the club.
