After entering the Safeway in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South, a boy in his teens walked over to the Starbucks, grabbed a large, empty gift bag and began filling it full of cups and other items. The man then left the coffee shop and grocery store without attempting to pay for the items, and the Starbuck's manager followed him outside.
The suspect was on his bike, and the manager chased after him. Soon, the thief's bag ripped and a few of the stolen items fell out.
"What are you going to do? Follow me to the 'hood?" the thief asked the manager. "Follow me to the 'hood, I'll kick your ***!"
The suspect then reached into the front of his pants, and the manager backed off, fearing the boy had a gun. The suspect then rode away and the manager recovered the stolen items that had fallen to the ground and called the police. The suspect attempted to steal a total of $254 worth of goods.
At the scene, officers searched the area for the suspected thief and found him walking through Beer Sheva Park. After a short foot chase, the officers stopped the suspect, age 16, near the intersection of Seward Park Avenue South and Hamlet Avenue South.
A search of the boy's clothing revealed he was carrying a gun-style lighter and a small, butcher-style fixed-blade knife in his pants pockets. He also had a razorblade in his wallet, which also held three stolen checks. He was booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center.

Friday 12/28, 8:36 p.m.
An officer on patrol near the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Cloverdale Street stopped the driver of a 1999 Cadillac Seville that he recognized as having a suspended license. While speaking with the 28-year-old man, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the car.
On the floorboard behind the driver the officer also noticed a shoebox lid that held a small amount of suspected marijuana. When the officer's backup arrived, he took the driver into custody.
Searching the man after the arrest, officers located a plastic bag inside his front pants pocket that held some white, cream colored rocks (2.6 grams), which later tested positive for cocaine. The man was booked into the King County Jail, where officers there found a bag of marijuana (15.5 grams) and another bag of crack cocaine (.3 grams) hidden inside the man's underwear.

After seeing an ad placed on Craig's List for six iPhones retailing for $1,800, a man, age 39, called the cell phone of the seller. The man agreed to meet the seller at an address in the 2100 block of 15th Ave. S. with cash for the phones.
At the rendezvous point, where the seller said he lived, the buyer followed the seller, whom he described as "very friendly and talkative," toward a townhome complex. As the pair approached an alley, two men jumped out from behind some bushes and one of them threw a punch at the buyer's head. The blow didn't land squarely, and the victim started running eastbound toward 15th Avenue South.
The victim made it to the street, but the thieves caught him and one of them pushed him to the ground. The two demanded money from the victim with the fraudulent iPhone seller standing nearby. The victim said he didn't have any, and the two thieves then rifled through his pockets.
A car drove by and the thieves spooked and ran away. The victim went back to his car, drove to a safe area and dialed 911. While waiting for police, the victim took stock of himself and realized the $220 in cash he had in his front pocket was missing.

Trespassing
Monday 12/31, 2:44 a.m.
A 36-year-old man returned to his home in the 3600 block of S. Orcas St. to find a prowler at the backdoor. The homeowner told the stranger, a teen, to leave twice, but the boy refused and swore at the man.
At the scene, officers found the boy, age 16, standing by the backdoor with his hands in his pockets. The officers ordered the boy to remove his hands, but he refused. The officers then said if he did not remove his hands from his pockets he would be shot with an electric gun, but the boy continued to stand in the same position.
Two officers approached the boy and took hold of him in an attempt to get his hands out of his pockets. The boy began to pull away from the officers while violently thrashing his arms. The boy was ordered to put his hands behind his back, but he didn't listen.
The two officers struggled with the boy for several seconds before a third officer discharged his Taser into the boy, which incapacitated the boy long enough for officers to handcuff him.
The officers called for Seattle Fire Department officials to treat the boy for his Taser shot. They also noted the boy was visibly intoxicated. He was booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center.
