Lee Stuckey, a resident of Magnolia for nearly three-and-a-half decades, died May 22 after a brief illness, while visiting her granddaughters in Glendora, Calif.
She was 89.
Born Jan. 10, 1918, in Faulkton, S.D., to Charles and Julia Grigg, Lee was the youngest of 10 children. Following the deaths of her parents, she moved to Spokane.
Lee was married to Ernest V. Stuckey from 1940 to 1959. They moved to Seattle in the mid-1950s, and she went to work in 1954 for Seattle First National Bank in Greenwood as a teller and clerk.
She was transferred to the bank's Wedgwood branch in 1961, then to Sea-Met Region in 1965; in 1967 she was promoted to Assistant Operations Officer, and in 1970 to Operations and Personnel Officer. In 1971, Lee became the first woman in the history of Seattle First National to be promoted to Assistant Vice-President. She was transferred to Dexter Horton in 1972 as Operations and Personnel Supervisor. In 1977, Lee was the first of two women promoted to Vice-President. She retired after 29 years in 1983.
Additionally, in 1974, Lee served as Northwest Region Conference Chair for NABW.
She moved to Magnolia in the early 1970s. A master seamstress, avid golfer and bank league bowler, she was a member of the Lucia Guild and Secretary of the Magnolia Women's Group. Lee was an active member of her Magnolia community and her church, Our Lady of Fatima.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Linda Millray, Donna Johnson, Kristine Marino, Kathy Gierucki and Diane Griffis; her great-grandchildren Eric, Amanda, Nicholas, Lisa, Michael, David, Ryan, Timothy, Jennifer, Chris, Corrine, Kayleigh, Kylee and Jessica; and her great-great-grandson, Curtis.
Lee was preceded in death by her daughters, Carol Ann Ludden and Marilyn Stuckey, and her granddaughter, Patricia Lee McCown.
Funeral Mass was held June 1 at Our Lady of Fatima, followed by Celebration of Life Service and Burial at Holy Rood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of Seattle or Citrus Valley Hospice of Covina, Calif.
