Paige Marie Puddy ... indomitable spirit

Born Sept. 17, 1962, at Ballard Hospital, Paige Marie Puddy grew up on Queen Anne Hill, where three generations of her family lived. She received her Associate of Arts degree from North Seattle Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa national scholarship honorary.

As a teenager, Ms. Puddy skied and water-skied, but her real passions in later life were poetry and puppies. She shared her writings at many local poetry readings. Pursuing her love of animals, she completed studies at Pima and interned at Northgate Plaza Veterinary Clinic as a veterinarian technician.

Spinal meningitis and a head-on collision on the Ballard Bridge left scars for the rest of Ms. Puddy's life. But she was a tenacious survivor.

She moved to Wenatchee 10 years ago. Friends there remember her wit and charm, shy smile and winsome character. They also cherish her indomitable spirit and quest for life.

Ms. Puddy died peacefully on Aug. 1 at her cottage near the Columbia River.

She is survived by LaVern B. and Frances M. Puddy, Joshua Buchanan, Lisa Michele, Linda Lucile, Sarra Marie, Megan Lynn, Zachary Scott, Amanda Marie and Stephanie Frances Puddy Campbell.

She will be laid to rest near her brother, R. Scott Puddy. Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 700 W. Raye St.
