Pacific Publishing sells Kirkland Courier

Pacific Publishing Co. Inc., parent company of the North Seattle Herald-Outlook and publisher of weekly and monthly newspapers in metropolitan Seattle, has sold the Kirkland Courier to Sound Publishing Inc.

The transfer of ownership took place on Monday, April 30; terms of the sale were not revealed. The Courier, a 23,000-circulation monthly newspaper, was the only Pacific Publishing newspaper in east King County.

"The Courier has been one of our best performing newspapers," said Pacific Publishing Co. president Peter Bernhard. "It is a great newspaper and has strong community and advertising support. But it fits better with the Sound Publishing's King County newspaper strategy, and we felt that, over the long term, our interests and those of our readers and advertisers would be improved as a result of this change."

Bernhard continued, "Pacific Publishing now publishes six weekly and monthly newspapers in Seattle; in addition to Kirkland, we have been seeing strong revenue growth at our other newspapers. This [sale] will allow us to sharpen our focus on the core Seattle market and give us additional resources to continue to build our publishing company."[[In-content Ad]]
