Noted author Phyllis Tickle to speak on 'Emergence Christianity'

Phyllis Tickle, author of more than two-dozen books on religion and spirituality, most recently “Emergence Christianity — What It Is, Where It Is Going, and Why It Matters,” will speak at Queen Anne United Methodist Church on March 16.

As the founding editor of the religion department of Publishers Weekly, Tickle is an authority on religion in America. Her series “The Divine Hours” initiates Christians into the practice of praying the hours every day. She also authored “The Great Emergence,” which outlines the changing religious landscape in a larger historical perspective.

Tickle’s appearance is part of an ongoing series at Queen Anne United Methodist Church (1606 Fifth Ave. W.). She will offer three talks on March 16: a clergy brunch at 10 a.m., a public lecture at 2 p.m. and a second public lecture at 4 p.m.
The cost for the lectures is $10 per person at the door. RSVPs are requested via e-mail to thewellqueenanne@gmail.com or by calling (206) 282-4307. The events are open to the public.
