We weren't able to line up Shirley Bassey but we do want to pay some attention to the James Bond series, which turned 50 last year. (Grand Illusion has been playing some of the films in 35mm.)
And we're even more pleased to have an excuse to talk about that distinguished spymeister predecessor of 007's, the great and indispensable Fritz Lang, whose fascinatingly mixed-bag offering Ministry of Fear is just coming out on Criterion DVD and Blu-ray.
Abbas Kiarostami should get some airtime—anything to take Iran's mind off Argo.
And ... well, we hope you'll be there to steer the conversation all sorts of places we can't guess ahead of time. Time ... yes, 5 p.m. as usual, Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave. You get in for free; you pay money to drink beer, wine, or designer water.
