McClure chases BUCKS for BOOKS

The McClure Middle School PTSA has launched a "Bucks for Books" campaign to raise $10,000 to refresh and renew the school library. Money raised will be used to purchase new books and periodicals for the library, and to improve the library to make it more inviting to students.

The school library is a key resource for the 640 students at McClure - the information center where all students have an opportunity to gain skills in self-direction and become lifelong learners and passionate readers. It's also used by community groups as a meeting place in the evenings.

Students, families and community partners are encouraged to donate to Bucks for Books. Each donor will be honored with a bookplate to be placed in a book purchased with the funds raised. What's that - you're modest? Then honor a graduating student, a parent or a teacher with a gift to the Bucks for Books campaign, and have the honoree's name placed in a book being added to the school's collection.

Book plates are available by contacting Kristan Gale, McClure librarian, at 252-1900. Donations are tax deductible and will make a wonderful difference in the life of McClure students.

Mail or drop off donations by June 22 to McClure Middle School, 1915 First Ave. W., Seattle, WA 98119. Or if you never leave cyberworld, visit www.seattleschools.org/schools/mcclure/ and donate online.

In addition to financial contributions, new books or age-appropriate used books in good condition may be donated to the library.

Work parties will be held during the summer to clean, paint and improve the facility. For more details about that, e-mail Kristan Gale at krgale@seattleschools.org[[In-content Ad]]
