Man beaten and at least one shot fired in Kerry Park

Police are still searching for the suspects responsible for beating a man in Kerry Park and firing a gun in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 18.

According to police reports, officers arrived at Kerry Park in the 200 block of West Highland Drive at about 2:42 a.m. in response to reports of a fight and that a gun had been fired. A preliminary investigation found that the victim was at Kerry Park with some friends. There was a large group of males also in the park (the suspect was a member of the large group of males).

The primary suspect approached the victim, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the victim’s face. The victim covered his face with his hands. Then several other males from the group began to kick and punch the victim.

The victim was on the ground crawling away from the assault when the primary suspect shot the pistol into the air. The suspect group then fled the area and were gone upon the officers arrived on scene.  The suspects remain at large.

The victim sustained injury to his head from the suspects’ punches and kicks.
