The 35th Annual Magnolia Village Holiday Open House will be held 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov 18.
Sponsored by the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce, the event will include the traditional tree lighting ceremony, a visit from Santa Claus and plenty of music and caroling throughout the Magnolia Village.
The tree lighting will start the festivities off at the Magnolia Garden Center at 6 p.m. The Magnolia Chorale will perform at the garden center for the tree lighting and then continue singing throughout the village.
Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance at the Windermere Real Estate office, 3214 W. McGraw St., Suite 102, from 6 to 8 p.m.
This special holiday event will include the music of the Ballard High School Jazz Combo playing in front of the Starbucks café from 6:15 to 8 p.m. People wishing to “jam” with the band are more than welcome to bring their instruments and join in.
Caroling groups will perform at various places around the village. Organizers are even hoping to lure carolers from local scouting troops. Also taking a bow will be the famed barbershop harmony group, the Seattle SeaChordsmen, which will perform at 6:15 p.m. at the Leroux Fine Apparel for Men & Women. There will be two groups of Seachordsmen that will walk through the Village offering up their special brand of holiday cheer.
West McGraw Street will be closed to traffic in the village, from 32nd Avenue West to 34th Avenue West, allowing residents and performers to walk freely through the village.
Shops will open their doors to offer food, beverages and a celebration to the community. It will be a chance for neighbors to come in and meet the owners and staff for a little holiday cheer.
For those with tired tots, childcare will be provided at the United Church of Christ, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the parish, 3555 W. McGraw St. The church requests donations for the childcare, with the proceeds going to the Magnolia Mission Youth.
