Magnolia Village to get new clothing boutique

In the coming months, Magnolia residents can anticipate a new place to shop as they await the arrival of a new boutique set to open on West McGraw Street in Magnolia Village.

Filling the space previously occupied by Around the Block, a decorative gift and interiors store that closed in September following the owner’s retirement, the new store will boast various brands of high-end clothing, such as Michael Kors and Splendid.

Lauren Hendricks, a commercial real estate agent for Windermere Real Estate, closed the lease shortly after the property went on the market.

“The new owner said it just felt right,” she said. “All in all, the process went fairly quickly,” considering the still-delicate state of the real estate sector.

According to news reports, the store’s owner — who is still not identified —revealed that the McGraw Street outpost will serve as the store’s second location, though she did not disclose the location of the original.

Noting the shifting population of the Magnolia area, she said her store will be a good fit for the neighborhood, which, as the on-line real estate website Zillow claims, is now home to some of the most mobile and powerful people in Seattle.

In addition to apparel, the owner also disclosed that she hopes to make the boutique an all-purpose destination, where customers can enjoy comfortable couches and watch television, among other services.

Expecting to open next March, the clothing shop will herald a new type of store in Magnolia Village, tying together the appeal of a casual meeting spot and a place to buy clothing.

Nonetheless, both the owner and Hendricks said the store will be a fluid fit among the already established stores in neighborhood’s business district.

“It’s something new,” Hendricks said, “and I think people will get excited about another addition to Magnolia Village.”
