Magnolia resident Stewart Lange flies with the Eagles

Magnolia Scout Troop 80 honored Stewart Lange for his attainment of Eagle Scout in a ceremony held Dec. 5 at Magnolia United Church of Christ. Present at the ceremony were Lange's parents, grandparents Clare and Dale Randall of Arizona, godparents and friends as well as Troop 80 members and families.

Lange achieved his Eagle status by leading a group of scouts in performing repairs to the Magnolia United Church of Christ, host of the Troop 80 meetings. The scouts repainted a portion of the church exterior, screened in a trash can area to keep out bugs and critters, and weeded the back steps.

The Ingraham High School sophomore started as a cub scout in the first grade. Per Lange, "I worked hard to complete all the requirements for Eagle Rank early because I knew I would be busy at school during my junior and senior years working to obtain my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma." In addition to Scouts and the IB program, he plays golf, baseball and recreational soccer at school.

One of Lange's favorite Troop 80 experiences includes 12 days backpacking 60 miles at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico last summer. He has also enjoyed Camp Parsons and all of his hiking trips with the troop.

Lange plans to study aeronautical engineering in college and learn how to fly.[[In-content Ad]]
