Magnolia Little League shines in parade

More than 1,000 Little-Leaguers and parade-goers gathered on Saturday, March 23, for Magnolia’s annual Little League parade, where, surprisingly, the spring weather was the MVP of the day.

Magnolia Little League lists of a total of 36 teams, comprised of T-ball, Single A, Double A, Triple A, Majors and Girls Fastpitch.

The parade, sponsored by Albert Lee Appliance, started off with an escort by the Seattle Police, followed by the Magnolia Fire Truck E-41, Pack 80 Cub sScouts and the Little League teams as they marched down McGraw Hill, heading east through the Magnolia Village. Each team and sponsor was announced by Magnolia Little League president Jeff Otte and vice president D.J. Fitzgerald.

The Lawton choir sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The conclusion of the day’s events was followed by a competitive exhibition game from Triple A teams Mehrer Drywall and David Arndt D.D.S.

One of the children’s favorite part of the day was the free ice cream that was given out by Umpqua Bank.
