Magnolia artist Rachael Bigham to show at Narthex Gallery

Magnolia artist Rachael Bigham loves public art, and her first gallery showing will open with an artist’s reception on Sunday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Narthex Gallery at Magnolia United Church of Christ (3555 W. McGraw St.).

The show runs through April 4.

Using found and collected wooden utensils, broken plates, silverware and jewelry/regalia, Bigham creates assemblages and mosaics. By combining these everyday objects with wood, paper maché, Sculptamold, textured cardboard and air-dry clays, she also tells a story.

Not one to be pigeonholed, Bigham has her hand on sculpture, painting and storytelling. Often an original narrative or poem is the inspiration for a series of assemblages, which are finished with oil or acrylic paint.
