LWYSA excitedly kicks off new season

For Joel Hussey, there is no looking back. There is only one direction he will drive his organization, and that's ahead. "We have an energized group of volunteers making great strides into taking our association to the next level. We're on firmer financial footing now and hope to be in even a better position.

The president of the new and improved Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association speaks energetically and passionately about the new programs and expansion ideas. "Spring training is off to a great start," he says, "and we are doing our fall soccer registration marketing blitz right now with flyers, handouts at the elementary schools, and signs and banners all over."

The 14-week fall soccer season enrolls more than 6,000 players, with the recreational program at about 5,700.

The new online registration system is ready for use for the fall 2005 recreation soccer program and the two Crossfire programs - Select and Premier.

The association also has cut a deal with Nike for uniforms and Northwest Indoor for distribution, boasting discounts in excess of 40 percent. Coaches are able to submit their orders through LWYSA's online store, another huge time-saving and cost-saving device.

Hussey says that a recreational technical director will be hired in May to train coaches, parent volunteers and focus on coach training and player development.

"We're really energized. It's a fresh new start," he says. Hussey encourages everyone to check with Web site www.lwysa.org for member updates and information on summer camps.
