This past week, the Rainier District Little League kicked off another spring of baseball for area youth ages 5-18. The league is divided into seven divisions: Big League, Seniors, Juniors, Majors, Minors, Rookies, and Tee-Ball.
Opening night action on included the following games:
MINOR DIVISION
The Nelson Trucking Rockets started the Rainier District Little League baseball season with a well-played 9-0 win over the Windermere Real Estate Ravens. Nelson Trucking's Jamie Orme, Nate Wilcox and Ian McManus combined to shut down the Windermere bats while Matt Sadang had a key hit and Raphi Smither made a stellar play in the field to lead the Rockets to victory.
ROOKIE DIVISION
Golf Savings Bank opened up the Rookie season with an 11-5 victory over Rosso Nursery.
The league invites anyone interested to attend games at various times during the week at any of local fields, including Rainier, Van Asselt, Lakewood, Brighton, Rainier Beach, Beacon Hill, and Maplewood Parks.[[In-content Ad]]
