Magnolia Little League, which serves almost 700 boys and girls ages 8-16, has been a staple of the community for decades. From April through early June, youngsters and their parents gather at the many ballfields on and below the Bluff to enjoy a fun competition.
Several years ago the Opening Day Parade and feature game were introduced to engage the broad Magnolia community in the fun. Now MLL has introduced another way for all the members of Magnolia to be involved: Tuesday Night Baseball at Raye Field.
Most weeknights at 6 p.m., Raye Field is home to a Boys Majors Baseball (10-to-12-year-olds). For the month of May, those Tuesday games will be the feature games of the week, and include other activities to make it a true community event.
■ Announcers will introduce the players at the beginning and throughout the game.
■ Valued Sponsors will be invited to throw out the first pitch.
■ Pizza and soft drinks will be available.
■ AAA Minors teams will be invited to attend as a team.
■ A special pre-game contest will be offered for youngsters.
So, whether you're a Raye Field regular, someone who hasn't been to a Magnolia Little League game in a while or (say it isn't so) have never been to one, this is your chance to see some great base- ball, join in the fun of Little League and come together as a community.
Next Tuesday, May 15, Fischer Plumbing plays Albert Lee at 6 p.m. The following week, May 22, it's Goodman Racing vs. Fischer Plumbing.
