On June 19 Magnolia resident Lisa Fitch was honored with the highest possible award given by the Washington State PTA — a life membership in the organization.
The ceremony took place at Ballard High School.
Fitch’s extensive volunteer work in the schools was cited, including her active involvement with Lawton Elementary School, where she served as PTSA president, plus her work for the McClure Middle School PTSA, where she served as co-president. This past year, while on the McClure board, Fitch served on the Ballard High School PTSA board.
Queen Anne resident John Loacker, who worked with Fitch for two years as co-president on the McClure board, told the News in an email: “I know that she spent into the thousands of volunteer hours on behalf of our community middle school alone. A short list of what she accomplished: revamping the web site, grounds beautification, numerous and successful grant writing endeavors, successful solicitation of outside volunteer groups to help repair and enhance school grounds, refurbishing the teacher’s lounge, handling the weekly email newsletter and much more. What makes her truly unique is her ability to expand the positive experience of serving your local school for a large group of volunteers.”
