[Regarding “Queen Anne All-Star’s 42-Year Wait for a State Championship,” July 24, 2013:] Very nice story, and as a nine-yearr coach (1999-2007) in Queen Anne Little League, [I] am always proud of any post-season accomplishments they have.
Two things of note in your article, however. [I] am disappointed you didn’t provide the names of the Queen Anne Little League District Champs under their photo, and two, your statement “The last time the state championship saw a team from Queen Anne was 1971” is incorrect.
In 2002, the 10-year-old old Queen Anne All-Stars were also District 8 Champions and made the state tourney up in Oak Harbor. Our Queen Ann All-Stars beat (not a single game was even close) the All-Star teams from the 14 different District 8 Little League teams. In fact, if you can check the Queen Anne News archives from July 2002, you will see this same picture.
