LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Helpline thanks community for gala support

Queen Anne Helpline’s recent fund-raising gala was a tremendous success — thanks to everyone who participated. Once again, the gala showed how much fun one can have while doing good for our community. We raised a record amount — netting over $95,300!

Jazz Underground provided wonderful music. An amazing array of Queen Anne’s best restaurants offered scrumptious food, creating our own Taste of Queen Anne. This year’s gala was held in Banchero Hall, generously donated by St. Anne Parish.

Adding to the festive and memorable night were Sun Shiner and Full Nelson, from the Rat City Rollergirls, who skated around the crowd selling golden raffle tickets for a chance to win one of 16 incredible prizes. Emcee Matt Smith’s witty and smart banter encouraged record giving during the paddle raise.

We are so grateful to everyone who supported the Helpline by attending, donating, sponsoring or otherwise contributing. Queen Anne Helpline does not receive any federal dollars, so contributions from all of you are especially critical to ensure we are able to continue helping our most vulnerable neighbors.

Our success was also due to the remarkable generosity of our Nenefactor sponsors (HomeStreet Bank, Amgen and Metropolitan Market); our Platinum sponsors (Vulcan and Nicon McGraw Building) and the numerous other businesses and organizations who provided sponsorships. Thanks, too, to Pike Place Brewery and St. Michelle Winery for the lovely beverages. And last, but certainly not least, a big shout-out to all the incredible volunteers who helped make this event possible — more than 50 in all!

Thanks again to everyone who attended this year, and to those who weren’t able to join us, you can still donate on-line through our website or by sending a donation to Queen Anne Helpline, 311 W. McGraw St., Seattle, WA 98119.

You can see photos of the event on our Facebook page.
