Lawton Elementary School is celebrating its 100th year and officials and PTA members are preparing events and an auction.
The formal celebration of the anniversary will be next spring, and volunteers are currently working out the details. The school began in 1908.
The auction will be called "Memories and Milestones" in recognition of the anniversary. It will be Nov. 15 and officials and volunteers are hoping that Lawton alumni will be able to participate by attending, bringing Lawton memorabilia and even putting up auction items. Interested parties should contact Kimball Mullins, the 2008 Lawton Elementary Auction Co-Chair at lawton.memories@yahoo.com.
Mullins encourages alumni to bring stories, anecdotes, messages to teachers. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to school programs such as arts enrichment programs, world cultures curriculum, tutoring, equipment, curriculum enhancements and support of other school programs.[[In-content Ad]]
