GREATER MADISON VALLEY
The council is considering a fund-raiser to benefit its account, as it is running a deficit.

It was reported that the city's Department of Planning and Development favors development in neighborhood business district. Also, the council heard updates on proposals for a new state Route 520 bridge, which would affect the on- and off-ramp near the arboretum.

The Greater Madison Valley Community Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, 3201 E. Republican St., in the school portable. The next meeting is scheduled for March 16. For more information, call 328-0058.


LESCHI
Residents were concerned that neighborhood businesses would be forced to close with a new city proposal promoting development in business districts.

Justice Works presented "Three Strikes on Trial," which focuses on how unfair the state's "Three Strikes" law is.

The Leschi Community Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month (September to June) at 7:15 p.m. at the Central Area Senior Center, 500 30th Ave. S. The next meeting is scheduled for March 2. For more information, call council president Thurston Muskelly, at 325-3683.


MADISON PARK
The council did not meet on Feb. 21 due to the Presidents' Day holiday. However, they did meet on Monday, Feb. 28; at press time, the minutes were not available.

MADRONA
The council plans to have its Neighbor Appreciation Day festivities on Saturday, March 5. Possible entertainment includes a talent show, local choirs, short school drama productions and music by the Washington and Garfield school jazz bands.

The Madrona Ravine project is applying for another Department of Neighborhoods grant.

The Madrona Community Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month (September through June) at 7:15 p.m. at the Madrona Park Shelterhouse, on 34th Avenue East and East Spring Street.
