Lakeview Elementary School's annual Art Walk will be held at the school on March 23, 6:30-8 p.m.
Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night," a de rigueur part of art education, "Lakeview's Starry Night" is the culmination of another year of the school's treasured art docent program. Supported by a mix of parent volunteers and visiting professional artists, the art docent program enriches elementary education through the wonders, beauty and fun of art.
Every student artist, kindergarten through sixth grade, will have his or her individual work displayed at the Art Walk. The students have used an exciting array of media including collage, ceramics, cloth, glass, metal, paint, printmaking and photography. In addition to the individual works, each class has created a unique work of art that will be available for a silent auction benefiting Lakeview's PTSA programs and art education.
Glass-blowing artist and instructor Cathy Chase, professional cartoonist Jeff Johnson, and costume designer Cathy Ripley will be on hand to demonstrate their incredible skills.
This free event includes musicians from Kirkland Junior High and the International Community School, activities for even the youngest patrons of the arts and refreshments.
"Lakeview's Starry Night" is a true Kirkland-wide event, and everyone is welcome.
