From Lang Lang and Joshua Bell to Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet, Classical KING-FM 98.1 is devoting September to previewing the 2013-14 performance season. On-air and on-line, the station will feature more than 100 performances by more than 30 Northwest music groups, ranging from concerts and operas to ballet and theater.
From 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through Sept. 31, KING-FM is airing musical highlights and previews of classical works culled from dozens of upcoming Northwest performances.
KING -FM’s regular program “Northwest Focus,” which broadcasts weeknights at 8 p.m., will take a more in-depth approach with interviews, insight and more local performances.
The KING-FM Arts Channel will provide a behind-the-scenes component, posting more than 30 artist interviews on-line, with emphasis on the performing arts, such as dance, music and theater.
A few highlights by week include:
•Through Monday, Sept. 9 — Early Music Guild, Seattle Chamber Music Festival and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
•Tuesday, Sept. 10-Sept. 16 — UW President’s Piano Series, Seattle Choral Company and Seattle Opera.
•Sept. 17-23 — Seattle Pro Musica, UW International Chamber Music Series and Seattle Symphony.
•Sept 24-30: Byron Schenkman and Friends, Northwest Sinfonietta and the Seattle Chamber Music Winter Festival.
