The month of January is dedicated to Mozart on-air and on-line at Classical KING FM 98.1 in recognition of Mozart’s birthday month.
On Jan. 1, KING FM, headquartered at 10 Harrison St., will launch a new channel of all-Mozart music, available at KING.org, with no commercial breaks.
The on-line Mozart Channel will incorporate music by international artists such as flutist Emmanuel Pahud, pianist Jonathan Biss and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, as well as performances of Mozart’s music by local music groups such as the Skagit Symphony, Federal Way Symphony and the Tacoma Youth Symphony, with brief commentary by local conductors and musicians.
On the radio, listeners will hear at least one piece of music by Mozart every hour, 24 hours a day, through Jan. 31. The station will also air music performed by both international and local talent.
On-air, Mozart’s symphonies will be featured Jan. 10 through 14, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Mozart concertos, Jan. 17 through 21. Mozart “from A to Z” will showcase Mozart’s entire catalog of through the rest of the month.
