Dominic King, Ballard High School’s outstanding junior running back and defensive player, was named the first-team running back for the KingCo Conference during the year-end awards announcements. Junior Johnny Verduin was named KingCo’s first-team punter and received honorable mention at quarterback.
Other all conference honors included Marcus Johnson being named the offensive guard for the second team; Tony Meyer winning the defensive end for the second team and honorable mention as offensive guard; Blake Sechler and Devaughn Dorsey received honorable mention at linebacker.
For the varsity team awards, the most valuable player was Tony Meyer; the offensive player of the year was Dominic King, defensive player of the year was Blake Sechler; the most inspirational player was Matt Kelly and the most improved player was Johnny Verduin.
For the freshmen team awards, Shae Carroll was named the most valuable player and Matthew Godinez was named offensive MVP. On the other side of the line, this year’s defensive MVP was Hunter Garcia. The most inspirational freshman was Henrik Weiberg and the coach’s award was given to Henry Weigand.
