Dancing, chanting, drumming, video, food, art and craft sales are some of the highlights of this year’s Indigenous Cultures Day, to be held Sat., August 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Seattle Center. All activities are free.
More than 250 contemporary and traditional Indigenous performances will take place at the Mural Amphitheater and in the Armory/Center House. Native-inspired art activities for kids and a daylong screening of videos provided by Native American and Indigenous filmmakers will also be part of the celebration.
For the first time, the festival includes a Northwest Native American Artist Market. The Artist Market provides opportunities to meet the artists and purchase authentic, handmade fine arts and crafts, from ceramics to jewelry to sculpture. The items will be judged that morning, with cash prizes awarded at noon.
