I-405 widening at N.E. 132nd closes streets

Total nightly closures of N.E. 132nd Street under I-405 will continue into the fall so crews can complete the widening the I-405 bridge at this location.

Drivers should expect nightly closures of all lanes in both directions of N.E. 132nd between 116th Avenue N.E. and Totem Lake Blvd. from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. These total nighttime closures are expected to continue through at least mid-October. During the closures, westbound traffic is being detoured south along Totem Lake Blvd. and eastbound traffic is being detoured south along 116th Avenue N.E.

All of these closures are necessary to perform work on Sound Transit's $85.9 million Totem Lake Freeway Station Project. WSDOT designed and is building the project, which will allow carpools, vanpools and buses to enter and exit the freeway without merging through three lanes of traffic, easing congestion and enhancing safety for all drivers. The new ramps and bridge are scheduled to open in late 2006. This project will also complement WSDOT's larger plan for congestion improvements along the I-405 corridor.
