Homes desperately needed for shelter cats, critters

The Seattle Animal Shelter is overflowing with cats, kittens and critters ready for adoption. To entice prospective owners, all adoption fees are waived for cats and kittens, and a pair of critters can be adopted for the price of one through Sunday, Aug. 11. The offer is made possible by a grant from the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation.

With this special offer, adoption fees for cats, critters and kittens are “two for the price of one” (plus licenses, if applicable), a savings of up to $145. Regular adoption fees are available on-line at www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/adoption-fees.htm. License fees are required for Seattle residents and are $27 per cat; no licenses required for most critters.

Critters include rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, snakes, rats, hamsters, birds and turtles. Volunteer small animal experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about each animal’s characteristics and needs, demonstrate basic care and handling skills, and answer questions.

These discounts apply to cats, critters and kittens in the shelter, at the Petco-Interbay and in foster care.

The Seattle Animal Shelter (2061 15th Ave. W.) is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m., for adoptions. Animals available for adoption can be viewed on-line at www.seattleanimalshelter.org.
