Home tour attracts dozens of vendors, sponsors

With their vistas of downtown and the white-capped sound, Queen Anne homes are some of the most majestic residences the city has to offer.

And so to benefit St. Anne School and Parish as well as the Queen Anne Helpline, this year's Queen Anne Home Tour will feature seven exceptional homes on the hill. Visitors will get a firsthand glimpse at some of the homes stunning designs and old-world architecture with those impressive views. One of the homes was even featured recently in Sunset Magazine.

Visitors can view houses at their own pace and viewed in the order of their choice.

In addition to the homes, the tour will feature a full-size boutique accommodating 40 local vendors displaying their wares, everything from jewelry, children's clothing, home décor, leather goods, antiques and fine art and even edible gifts.

"The home tour has happened in the past but this is the first time for the boutique," said tour volunteer Cathy Shoaf. "It's put on by St. Anne school and Parrish and the Queen Anne Helpline so all the proceeds benefit those organizations."

The idea for the tour itself was inspired by what Magnolia had been doing. The Magnolia Holiday Tour of Homes featured six homes and a holiday boutique set up at the Our Lady of Fatima social center. One of homes was a 1926 Tudor fashioned with French and Venetian influences and owned by Robert and Nadine Gaston. The Gastons also decorated the home with several pieces of original artwork and a retro-rustic kitchen area.

"We decided that that might be a nice idea to do in Queen Anne," Shoaf said. Last year Queen Anne's "Home and Garden" tour featured six homes and took place in the summer.

Ticket prices this year includes a tour booklet with maps and information about the homes. There will also be raffles, holiday music, and fresh baked goods and coffee from Caffe Appassionato. Sponsors of the event so far include Via Tribunali, Blackstock Lumber, Jeffrey Valcik - Seattle Premier Properties, Regence House, Avenue One, Realogics, Randie Nelson of Windermere Real Estate, Steve Kennedy of ReMax. Realtors.

"The St. Anne community and Queen Anne Helpline are compassionate neighborhood groups that work on a variety of assistance programs for those in need, said Mary Pat Iaci, development program coordinator for the event. "This festive event provides a rare opportunity for the Seattle community to view breathtaking homes and buy unique gifts with purpose."[[In-content Ad]]
