An army of amateur filmmakers invaded the Magnolia Village last week as the crew expected to spend three or four days filming scenes for a 12-minute short movie inside the Magnolia Bookstore and along McGraw Street.
The movie is titled “Pretty Face and Green My Eyes,” and was written by Samuel Graydon, who is also the director on the project.
According to Producer Lacee Kloze, the movie is being shot with a budget of $3,000. The movie will also include scenes from Ballard, Columbia City, Kerry Park and downtown Queen Anne. The crew of 25 and cast of 5 are all volunteering on the project.
The film is a romance that takes a nostalgic look back at a first love. The Magnolia Bookstore, owned by Georgiana Blomberg, is the location for where the star of the film, who is now a successful author comes back to see his first love who now owns the business.
Blomberg said she was approached a month or two ago about whether she would be willing to let them film the movie in her store. She agreed. The filming went smoothly, although Blomberg was a little concerned when they rearranged areas of the small bookstore. But the crew put everything back the way it was.
“It was very exciting to see how they set things up,” Blomberg said.
